Christmas...already??

Whaaat!  Too early to be talking about Christmas surely! I usually think that too, and for years I never did any shopping or anything until at least after Labour Weekend.  All that hype and commercialism, ugh.  So how do we simplify the whole thing down and have fun doing it?

Well when I was thinking about what to write this month it occurred to me that the last few family shoots I've done have been from the gift of a framed family portrait to their Mum & Dad.  Trust me,  I'm a Mum and a Nana and we LOVE this stuff!

When you try getting the family together sometimes is like pulling teeth and then they won't stand properly for a decent photo, everyone's poking each other or saying silly things and getting mad and the teenagers won't stand within 2 feet of each other "eww get away from me..."  Does your head in right?  And then Mum gets mad and then sad when all she wants is one decent photo to put on the wall.

You need to start planning this now though, to allow enough time to organise the family, have the shoot and design session and then allow enough time for the framing to be finished and the products ready to be given as gifts on Christmas Day.  This means ordering has to be completed by mid November at the latest as framing can take 3-4 weeks at least.

As I said, the last few shoots have been the result of having been given a gift voucher or have been booked by the family as a surprise gift for the parents for Christmas.  How cool is that! It's so easy to put it off for all sorts of reasons, sometimes all that's needed is something to prompt it to happen and a gift voucher can be just the thing.

So just a thought -
One amazing family portrait (amazing because it's YOUR family that's in it) = One amazingly happy Mum.
